As the football season draws to a close many neutrals must have been left with a sense of what might have been.
It looked like the title race, for the first time in years, would go right down to the last day of the season with Man Utd's visit to Stamford Bridge being a title decider.
Hats of to Sir Alex for wrapping the title up earlier. Man Utd have been brilliant since the beginning of the Premiership fighting of Blackburn, Newcastle, Arsenal and now Chelsea to lift yet another Premiership trophy.
But is English football dull and predictable? Realistically, only four teams can win the title and to be honest for the last few seasons Arsenal and Liverpool haven't really come that close.
Liverpool have been very good in Europe under Benitez but domestically they have been inconsistent.
Arsenal have fared slightly better but are immensely frustrating. This year they completed the 'double' over Man Utd, beat Liverpool on numerous occasions and drew twice with Chelsea. If they had beaten some of the lesser sides that the title race may have been a different story.
The fact of the matter is that almost every season we can predict the top four and that has meant that most of the Premiership, especially teams like Tottenham and Everton are playing for the Uefa Cup.
Liverpool and Arsenal have the ability to make a two horse race into a four horse race if they can improve on disappointing league campaigns next season.
If it would have been great to see another title decided on the last day, imagine how exciting it would be if there were still four title challengers at Easter.
After all, this isn't Scotland.

I completely agree, the title would be much more exciting (and better yet nail-biting) if there were four teams that were up for the crowning. At the minute however, it seems that the fantastic four the premiership pundits all rave about is actually, in reality a terrific two.
For me, it’s Liverpool and Arsenal’s sheer lack of passion that’s preventing them to take anything better than the bronze medal in the Premiership. This I believe is down to having alternative ideas of success.
Since Liverpool won the champions league two years ago, their swagger and arrogance won’t allow them to take the Premiership seriously. What they need to do is wipe the hazy fog of Champions League glory (or should I say fortune) from their eyes, stop treating the Premiership like inferior silver wear and start trying.
As for Arsenal, it seems like there more occupied about doing the double of Man Utd or playing the sexiest football in the country. It’s their serious case PGS (Perfect Goal Syndrome) that’s making them incapable of beating the inferior teams on a regular! If there was an award for playing the hottest football in the country, they’d have been undisputed champions for a long time now. Sadly and most unfortunately this doesn’t win you REAL trophies.
If you look at the race for the La Liga title in Spain at the minute, four teams are still capable of being crowned champions and it appears that will go down right to the wire. Unfortunately this will never be the case with the Premiership because two of the four best teams think it’s more important to become Champions League finalists or doing the double over their foe. Alter your quest, and most definitely up your game!
